Mush in Michigan

With an average of 300 inches of snowfall a year, Michigan's North Country offers a brand of winter adventures not found in most other places. Staying frozen a good deal of the time, the area also features snow covered hemlocks, frozen waterfalls and glimmering ice packs all winter long. We and the UPer's as the locals are called, think that snow should be celebrated, enjoyed and used for adventures. Snowmobiling lets you get out into the forest to enjoy the pristine quiet of the land, accompanied only by wildlife out to get some exercise. Cross country skiing and dog sledding also available.

If you can only give it one day or just want to sample dog sledding, you can spend the entire day mushing on a day trip. The adventurous can travel through the wintery northwoods to a secluded lake for the day completed equipped with gear for ice fishing heated by a warm camp fire. Best of Texas

If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Deep South and the American Southwest, but don’t have time to do both trips – go to Texas. There, you’ll find both. Even though it is often associated solely with the cowboys and red dust of Southwestern deserts, Texas is filled with the diverse landscapes of both the American South and the Southwest. You’ll see terrain that ranges from the Southern coastal swamps of Louisiana to the piney woods of South Carolina, the rolling plains of the Midwest and rugged hills more like the New Mexico mountains than the south. Less than 10% of the land is desert. In the far Southwest, the desert and mountains are home to Big Bend National Park.
